Effects of Garbage Pollution on Poor Countries
When garbage is exported to other countries, the countries that must deal with garbage is very poor usually. These countries include, but are not limited to, China, India, Bangladesh, the Ivory Coast, Somalia, Brazil, and many other poor countries in Africa and South America. The main problem is the lack of law enforcement in these countries. Exporting garbage is illegal, but many poor countries have other problems to deal with. These countries suffer from sickness because of the huge amounts of garbage. The biggest impact comes from the fact that many villages are made of garbage. Their entire lives are sifting through garbage and finding something useful to sell. The lack of sanitation also makes this job more dangerous, and, because of the lack of proper medical care, some people can die from the diseases they catch. Ironically, because they reuse the garbage, the poor countries of the world are making more progress on fixing this crisis than the richer nations are making. This shows how backwards it is with this crisis at hand. So, we must follow the suit of poorer nations and try to reduce, reuse, and recycle.
